Think of the dogs

SIR: I reply to 'Dog dirt's a menace'(Your views, July 9). The poor dogs' pads are very soft compared to trolley wheels. They have to endure broken glass, nails in wood, trashed cans and many more items that are cast aside without thought what damage they will do to a dog or any other animal. Then we have the cast away food, beefburgers, sticky toffee, food trays half full. The list is endless. I think our load is light compared to a handicapped person with a guide dog. We can see what a mess our street and parks are in. The handicapped person has no option.  more...

Pity the parents

SIR: I find the reaction to the death of Dillon Hull extremely disquieting. On the one hand, horror is expressed, quite rightly, that a boy of five was gunned down, possibly deliberately, and, on the other hand, his mother and stepfather instead of receiving sympathy, are being persecuted. They may be drug addicts but they are also human beings. To attempt to evict a mother whose son has been murdered because he has been murdered is cruel and wrong. That the residents in the immediate area are worried about their children is understandable even though the action they are taking is regrettable. But I am sorry that you, sir, endorse it so completely (BEN August 11).  more...

If people are in a pub they are supposed to be over eighteen anyway! My mats and Idrink them all the time. They're just a fun drink and a bit of a laugh. It's these old people who just don't know how to have fun who are trying to stop us having any fun!  more...
