From the Bolton Evening News, first published Friday 15th Aug 1997.
SIR: I find the reaction to the death of Dillon Hull extremely disquieting. On the one hand, horror is expressed, quite rightly, that a boy of five was gunned down, possibly deliberately, and, on the other hand, his mother and stepfather instead of receiving sympathy, are being persecuted. They may be drug addicts but they are also human beings. To attempt to evict a mother whose son has been murdered because he has been murdered is cruel and wrong. That the residents in the immediate area are worried about their children is understandable even though the action they are taking is regrettable. But I am sorry that you, sir, endorse it so completely (BEN August 11).
