Keep moors pair jailed

From the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, first published Thursday 27th Aug 1998.

MY campaign is determined to block a move by peers, headed by Lord Longford, which could mean the release on parole of Moors Murderers, Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.

There are, however. numerous reasons for keeping them locked up for life, and this campaign is outlining some of the case factors involved to stamp out the soft squeamish attitudes of cloistered philosophers, clamorous minorities of self-opinionated do-gooders who are totally disregarding the safety of Britain's young children. This campaigner remembers the screams, the vomiting, the revulsion, the sadness and emotions stirred in court, in the press box, in the well of the court, in the galleries and in the jury box; and the complete lack of emotion by Hindley and Brady as the tape recording of innocent victim 10-year-old Lesley Ann Downey's voice screamed out, shrilly pitched with terror and fear as she pleaded for her life.

Out of respect for the memory of victims Edward Evans, Lesley Ann Downey and John Kilbride and for the protection of children everywhere, send me your letters of support to enable me to pressurise the Home Secretary into giving assurances to the people that child murderers guilty of atrocious crimes who are sentenced to life imprisonment serve just that - life.

This deadly partnership of Hindley and Brady must always remain behind prison walls.
