Tributes pour in for ex-landlady^Z

From the Bolton Evening News, first published Wednesday 8th Dec 1999.

TRIBUTES have been paid to a popular former pub landlady who died suddenly.

Frances Farley died peacefully in her sleep at her home in School Hill after returning from a visit to see her daughter in Blackpool.

Mrs Farley, aged 83, became a well known figure in the town when she was landlady of the School Hill Tavern and the Legs of Man pubs in the 1950s and 1960s.

In total she worked as a landlady for 32 years, retiring from the trade aged 61 after moving to run a pub in Whitefield.

The Legs of Man pub was virtually next door to the former Grand Theatre and Theatre Royal on Churchgate.

Her daughter Valerie Taylor said: "She was a really lively, lovely lady. I can't believe she isn't here anymore. So many people have already been in touch because she meant so much to a lot of people.

Mrs Farley's funeral service will be held at St Patrick's church in Great Moor Street, followed by a burial ceremony at Lytham.

Her family are organising a coach to travel from Bolton to the coast.

Anyone who wants further details can call Mrs Taylor on 01253 591612.
