Picture sets the scene for Hippodrome . . .

When a reader rang me about a totally different subject recently, she commented that she used to live near the Hippodrome in Deansgate, but had not seen a photograph of it in Looking Back. Well, I know that over the years I have certainly used such pictures, but here is another. The Hippodrome, for those who are not aware, was mainly a repertory theatre, with plays, and was, as you can see from the picture, almost opposite the Post Office. A car park is now on the site.   more...
