From the Bolton Evening News, first published Tuesday 15th May 2001.

BOLTON Schools continued their promising start to the season with a 93 run victory over Salford Schools at Irlam Cricket Club.

Electing to bat, on a perfect wicket, Nick Woods and Jonathan Shaw set about the Salford attack with shots all around the wicket. Salford had no answer to their attacking ways, and the partnership went on to make 159.

Nick Woods 76 was the batsman out. Shaw 88 was then well supported by Adam Worrall 20, and Bolton finished their innings on 210 for six.

Paul Tong and David Mather opened the Bolton bowling and restricted Salford to eight for three from seven overs. Salford were never going to get near the Bolton total and finished on 117 for four. Castle finishing with 62 not out.

Tong two for eight, Mather one for five and Woods one for 25 were the Bolton wicket takers.
