From the Bolton Evening News, first published Monday 16th Sep 2002.

THE Royal Bank, Bolton Commercial Centre held it's annual charity golf day at the Hart Common Golf Club in Westhoughton.

Eight teams of professionals and their clients took part in the fund-raising event, which was won by Contact Packaging Ltd.

The day raised £1,000 for the Birtenshaw Hall School in Bromley Cross.

The school, established in 1956, is a registered charity which provides education, therapy and care to meet the needs of children and young people with physical disabilities. The school is hoping to raise £1.9million to build an extension. Anybody wishing to help with the appeal should contact Mike Westerman at the school on 01204 304230.

Pictured at the cheque handover are, from left, Bill Gillings, commercial manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland, Dave Jones, director of commercial banking, Carol Gannon, administrator at the Birtenshaw Hall School, and Chris Jamieson, headteacher.
