War baby joy

A NEW mother, whose partner is serving in Iraq, was finally able to give him first-hand details about their new baby when she got a surprise call.
Ann Smith, from Openshaw, gave birth last week but had to rely on the Army to get the news to her partner Michael. And yesterday, she got the call she had been waiting for. She said: "He was only on the phone a minute, but at least he knows, and he's happy."
