Mayors get fit for a feast

From the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, first published Wednesday 29th Jan 2003.

SOUTH Ribble's mayor is challenging celebrity chefs to cook up a real treat for his charity fund.

Coun David Pownall has asked Nigel Smith, chef at the Feilden Arms, Mellor, to help him make a special dish against the clock.

Coun Pownall will be battling it out against his Blackburn with Darwen counterpart, Coun Tony Humphrys, who will be teaming up with Granada's Gilly Brookes for the contest, based on BBC2's Ready, Steady, Cook.

The event will be held in the Banqueting Suite, West Paddock, Leyland, at 7.30pm on February 25. Tickets are £5 from the mayor's office on 01772 625542.
