A NATIONAL survey has revealed that Fylde pensioners are beating the grandkids in being in touch with the latest technology.
According to the survey - conducted by cable company, Telewest Broadband - more than 70 per cent over 65s in the Blackpool area spend around 25 hours a week surfing the net, chatting with friends on mobiles or watching digital TV.
But, when it comes to seeing their offspring, the "silver surfer" generations only manage to spare an average of one hour per week.
President and chief operating officer at Telewest Broadband, Eric Tveter said: "The over 65s are undoubtedly turning into a generation of silver surfers and it is fantastic to see that they are just as techno savvy as their grandchildren. Technology no longer exclusively appeals to young people with disposable incomes."
