Invitation to quiz local councillors

From the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, first published Friday 7th Jan 2005.

A SERIES of meetings in which members of the public will be given the chance to question key decision makers on Blackburn with Darwen Council is to be launched tonight.

Executive Board 'on the road' will involve members of the Council's Executive Board visiting various venues throughout the borough where they will be available to listen to and take questions from members of the public about community issues.

Questions are not pre-prepared and those attending will also be given the opportunity to submit more detailed written questions or requests for information, which will be taken away and dealt with afterwards.

The first meeting will take place at the Sacred Heart Primary School in Corporation Park tonight at 7pm.

Residents in the area have been notified in advance but anyone is welcome to come along.

Council leader Kate Hollern said: "I hope people will turn up to this meeting and let us know what is going on in their area and where we may be able to help.

"While our meetings at the town hall are open to the public it is not always possible for people to get there.

"By bringing these meetings into the community I hope we will be able to get more opinions on what is going on across the borough at grass roots level as well as giving us the opportunity to tell people about the work we are doing."
