Council cash and clean-up action on agenda

From the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, first published Friday 7th Jan 2005.

HYNDBURN Council's budget will be one of the main items on the agenda at the next meeting of Peel and Barnfield Area Council.

There will also be updates on local issues, such as the closure of the gate at Oakhill Park and the launch of a new caretaker scheme to clean up the area's grot-spots.

News will also be given on plans for a multi-use games area in Peel Park.

The meeting will be held at Accrington and Rossendale College, in Sandy Lane, on Thursday, January 13, at 7pm.

Residents from the two wards are also encouraged to have their say on issues that matter to them in the open forum section of the meeting.

Coun Paul Barton, chairman of Peel and Barnfield Area Council, said: "This is a great opportunity for residents to come along to find out how their council tax is spent.

"The meeting will also give details on the new caretaker scheme, multi-use games area in Peel Park, as well as the closure of the small gate at Oakhill Park. I urge residents to come along as they will also have a chance to ask questions."
