A Blackpool international hockey ace is set to combine her sport with her studies after receiving a prestigious scholarship.
Kirsty MacKay, 19, has received a £1,000 Carnegie Sports Scholarship from Leeds Metropolitan University, where she is studying for a BSc (Hons) sports and exercise science degree.
She said: "I am really pleased to have been awarded the scholarship, it's a great privilege and it will definitely help me in achieving my goals."
Kirsty moved from Blackburn Ladies to premier league side, Bowden Hightown and has also received international recognition, featuring in the squad for the junior world cup in Chile in September.
