MORRISONS has agreed to sell its petrol filling station and Safeway convenience store on Wigan Road, Bolton, to supermarket chain Tesco.
The sale is part of a £55.3 million deal that will see Tesco acquire 30 sites nationwide.
The 30 petrol filling stations and convenience stores were acquired by Safeway on dissolution of a partnership with BP in April 2005.
The sale is subject to the approval of the Office of Fair Trading, and existing staff will transfer to Tesco.
A statement from Tesco read: "This is a small deal that will allow Tesco to convert freehold sites in good locations, with new and conforming forecourts and shops, to its Express convenience format.
"The stores are complementary to Tesco's existing Express network and will bring the Tesco shopping experience to more local neighbourhoods across the country."
